HeartCode BLS Online Course & in-person Skills Check-Off

AHA HEARTCODE BLS

HeartCode BLS is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the BLS Course. HeartCode blended learning delivers quality resuscitation education regardless of where providers are located and gives them more control to complete the course at their own pace. Providers first complete the online portion of HeartCode BLS and then complete a hands-on skills session with an AHA BLS Instructor or on a simulation station.

This product has been updated with new science from the 2020 Guidelines for CPR and ECC and replaces the previous version (15-3254). If you are a student, please confirm with your Training Center that this is the appropriate product for your training.

How does the 2020 Guidelines version of HeartCode differ from the 2015 Guidelines version of HeartCode?

The 2015 Guidelines HeartCode program uses eSimulation to teach cognitive knowledge. The 2020 Guidelines HeartCode uses a personalized adaptive algorithm that sets students on the most efficient path to mastery. Students follow a continuously adapting learning path that is personalized by their own inputs: their performance, and their self- reported confidence level related to each probing question. The course content is presented in the form of self-directed learning content, probing questions, and Cognitive Assessment Activities (CAAs).This format is intended for BLS new or renewing students who want to complete the cognitive/classroom portion online and then conduct the skills checkoff with an instructor. The student is required to complete the online portion prior to their scheduled skills checkoff class and provide a copy of the BLS Online completion certificate.

Once registered you will receive your E-Course link and Instructions by email. You must have your Online E-course completed and bring proof of completion too your skills check-off session.

HeartCode® BLS Online is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that uses adaptive learning technology to allow learners to acquire and demonstrate Basic Life Support skills using a personalized learning path that adapts in real time to a learner’s performance. The program is designed for healthcare professionals who need Basic Life Support training for their clinical duties. HeartCode® BLS Online consists of a cognitive portion that is completed online.

Hands-On Session

A separate skills assessment with an AHA Instructor is required to earn a valid AHA BLS Provider eCard that is valid for two years. The date/time you choose is your skills check off, you must have the online course work completed prior and bring proof of completion to be eligible to attend the skills session. Skills portion will be held in Longmont, CO at 1361 Francis St, St. B-107.
